Hello everyone! It’s Emma here, your local Foot Health Practitioner.
We’re officially into the year, and while everyone is focusing on fitness goals and spring cleaning, I’m here to talk about something crucial that often gets left at the bottom of the to-do list: Your Feet.
As a Foot Health Practitioner, I often see clients who wait until they are in pain to address a foot issue. The truth is, your feet are your body’s foundation, walking roughly
miles in a lifetime. A little preventative care goes a long way.
Here are my top 3 tips for maintaining healthy feet this season:
1. Keep Them Dry (Especially Between Toes!)
After your shower, take an extra 10 seconds to dry between your toes. Fungal infections like Athlete’s Foot love warm, damp spaces.
2. Moisturize Daily (But Not Between Toes)
Dry skin can lead to painful cracks (fissures). Apply a good, urea-based foot cream to your heels and soles daily to keep skin pliable, but avoid applying it between the toes, as this can encourage fungal growth.
3. Check Your Shoe Fit
Are your toenails curling or are you developing calluses? Your shoes might be too tight or narrow, affecting your foot health. Ensure there is a little room for your toes to wiggle.
